Community engagement
Centre for Transformative Regulation of work has a number of key projects aimed at community engagement and research and development when it comes to the digital economy.
Digital Platform
Cooperative Project
In 2019 the Social Law Project (a project located within CENTROW) engaged in a partnership with the Deutsche Gewerkschaftsbund (DGB), the principal trade union federation of Germany, for the establishment of the Digital Platform Cooperative Project (DPCP) with the aim of developing a sustainable platform for domestic and care work owned and controlled by the workers. Phase 1 of the project ends in 2022, and a digital platform for domestic workers will be piloted in phase 2 (2023 – 2025) in Gauteng and in Cape Town).
Labour Law Online
LLL is a rule-based digital tool (using good old- fashioned AI (GOFAI)) that facilitates decision-making on matters relating to labour and social security rights. The aim is to pilot LLL in Community Advice Offices that advise members of the community and provide assistance on matters relating to labour and social security rights. Centrow is supported by our partner, Arbeidsmarkt Research BV at the University of Amsterdam (ARR) and the developers of Magontslag, which is a critical reference for the project.
